The media these days are all brimmed with the news and views on "Should death by lethal injection be continued " .The real question ,I feel ,should have been "Death sentence or not ?"
Death sentence is sad to say still practised in the free country like USA .
The issue is controversial ,emotional , humane but mostly unescapable .however If i be allowed to make my stand ,I would rather,abolish death sentence and substitute the same with LIFER .
Sure,that the subject in many cases had done henious crimes of robbing life ,values ,honour and priceless or unrevertable changes in victims or it close family members life .But snatching a precious gift like LIFE just for the reason that the subject has done so makes no sense .Two wrongs dont make a right .The constitution becomes equal dirty as the man/woman in the dock .
Another reason for my support for LIFER is that ,it is no way less punishment than electrocution , standing on line of fire ,gallows or lethal injection .One who has been awarded LIFER goes through the pain ,self guilt ,isolation ,monotony of prison life ,the sense of being watched all the time ,sense of not having freedom all the moments for the rest of his life .
The "satisfaction " of kins of victims is "respected" . Imagine a life in 7X10X12 dungeon all the life with limited means of choice on food ,clothing ,way of life and being dictated all the time .If death sentence ,terrorises any 1 from commiting crime ,LIFER should do most of it .
But the most important reason ,why I believe LIFER should make way for death sentence in Constitution books is that ,it can be reverted .There had many instances where judgements have been biased ,manipulated or wronged because of lack of evidence or improper evidence .Death sentence in these cases leaves the theory of justice paralysed .
