Is the Sword of Damocles hanging over Mumbaikars’ heads?

If statistics reflect truth ,then do we still need to be in doubt that mumbai is not in Danger ?
Ghatkopar Blast,December 6,2002 :Two persons were killed and 28 injured in a blast in a BEST bus parked outside Ghatkopar railway station (on the west side), the reverberations of which were felt on platform no 1 and shattered the window panes of a train.
Vile parle Blast ,Jan 28,2003: One woman was killed and 25 persons injured on Monday evening in a blast near Vile Parle station in suburban Mumbai.
Mulund Blast ,March 14,2003:At least ten commuters, including four women, were killed and 70 injured in an explosion near the first class ladies compartment of a local train in Mumbai.
Gateway of india Blast ,Aug 25,2003 :At least 48 people were killed and 150 injured in two blasts in south Mumbai -- one near the Gateway of India and the other at Zaveri Bazaar in busy Kalbadevi area -- on Monday afternoon.

These are just the data for a 9 month record in mumbai much before the ,seemingly ,waiting to happen catastrophe of 7/11.

In todays world ,where unhappy people have a media to communicate among themselves and collaborate and where each part of world is acessible ,both to people or their ideology ,the potent of resentment often in violent form has become universal .So be it an apartment complex in Buenos Aires housed mostly by a particular community or a london sub urb or for that matter pentagon complex or a peaceful locality at Malad. Nothing seems to evade the eye of destruction .And quite often when the motive of such human tragedy is brought about need not necessarily stop to kill people but do a greater degree of damage , by terrorising giovernment ,people or community ,Its next to impossible to make not a country but even a city safe .

Mumbai has special charm for trouble makers now .Its symbolic .It's the nerve centre and sentiment of people might dictate the sentiment of nation . The threat to mumbai ,the financial capital of india is more so now because any instititute ,organisation ,government ,country or individual who want to cripple or stunt econoimic growth of india need not search for any other city .

The major threat number 1 is from Home grown Terrorist as was evident by recent series of bomb blast. We had been having the home grown terrorist for almost 2 decades .The term however was coined by American security agents very lately .So even when USA was unknown to terms like jihad and massaccre ,we had JKLF ,khalistan liberation force,ULFA and so on .We failed to contain the same in Kashmir. We suceeded in Punjab though not completely. We are keeping fingers crossed on ULFA and NE terror organisations. The Kashmir problem now has become so cancerous spreading to such an extent that these so called revolutianries strike the cities of India at their own free will and choice. To add to this are organisations like SIMI ,which are fed by some crooked ,myopic politicians who see nothing beyond votes.Organisations like SIMI ,feeding on ideologies of religion and harboured by religious institutes , have blind followers who could do anything under command .The politicians share a symbioticrelationship with these organisations .And any threat to theor existence is quickly seen by these heavily selfish individuals as threatto their existence.A record on number of times official threat and shutdown of SIMI offices being turned down by some government is just an indication of the degree of collaboration they share. Not to forget here is the role of cosmetic media who look upon any injustice to these utterly inhumane organisation as an enchroachment on HUMAN RIGHTS .

The second nature of Home grown Terrorist is unfitting to their term but still the potential Threat .Its from the million bangladeshis and hundreds of pakistanis getting invisible after they reach india .Statistics show that more than half the terrorist killed are foreigners .some are even afghans fresh from fields of Taliban . India has been home to people across border since ages .We had the nepalese and tibeteans and the burmese and lankans but the degree of trouble caused by the bangladeshis and pakistanis are unmatachable .Areas like Mahim ,in mumbai is home to these bangladeshis and they too have been active participants and often the agents of terror.Pruning them from our soil and sealing the borders should be enforced immediately.Shutdown the jihad facotry aka the vote bank at borders of Tripura ,West Brngal and Assam.

The other danger lurking mumbai is from the Naxals .Already a menance in neighbouring states and loaded with sophisticated weapons with official recognisation in 2 states. They have their own set of communication and media which camoflouges in the urban areas now .The freshly minted youth from colleges are hypnotised by the distorted facts and shown the path to violence ,as a means to achieve so called equality and justice. This would be the hardest to control .

To contain their damage in mumbai is not possible unless the governing authority in mumbai is more vigilant and separated from the rest of state .monitor the entry to city .Mumbai gives 1/6th of revenue to country .Its time it gets the due.Mumbai should screen people coming and settling here .Having visas for this city should be given a second thought .The earlier chain of bomb blast in mumbai was carried out by underworld ,product of unemployed youth ,who just happened to be in city to catch their dream .The important thing however ,is thatthe bomb blast then was orcharested by secret agents of our neighbouring country.Visa form of entry to city will block both these chances .

Mumbai is infact the favourite spot to create terror .To subdues the buoyancy in the city however hard ,god forbid ,will come to halt if these kind of events recur. Its not at all possible to screen each and every bag of commuters here or install monitoring devices at some of the spots or increasing police force. What needs to be done is to adress the root cause of it .
The Intellignece failure ,quite often ,the excuse by government after such an horrible episode needs to become the strength.the various ,decentralised intelligence agencies should start wroking together .RAW and IB have a long way to go now .Mumbai police should synch iteself with latest gizmos and resources to seal this city from further July 11 . Set up moles in the enemy's hole."Smoke out " the agencies motivated to cause trouble for India.Dismantle by diplomacy or by force or by our own secret agents ,the terrorist infrastrucutre across the border.Because we should remember there is nothing beyond the country. And however media may turn blind to on purpose or is cosmetic the war is already on.And drastic steps now only can see mumbai as a safe zone in coming years.

This time

Found the words of John Mellencamp ,so touching ..
=======================================================================
I've had a lot of girls in my life
They never meant that much to me
A good time was always had by all
But those good times, they were fleeting memories
I used to lie to them and then I'd kiss 'em
But I kept them an arm's length away
Well, hey man, now you know me
And look how silly I been acting today
CHORUS
This time I really think I'm in love, I'm in love
This time I think I'm reall in love
This time I really think I'm in love, I'm in love
This time I think I'm really in love
I used to roll down the window
And let the tape deck blow
And look at the honey that I was holding that night
I'd say, "Hey girl, you're the one,"
And then I'd laugh when I'd take her home
You got your arms around my shoulders
You got my soul confused with my heart

You were too smart to believe all those tired lines
And I was too dumb to know what had started
I hope you don't lose that innocent laughter
I hope time doesn't take that away
CHORUS

The only difference is John put things so easier ..Euphemisms in his lyrics ..Missed that in my case...
